For some reason when it comes to recent unnecessary sequels, the idea seems to be, take the few things that worked in the first mediocre movie and amplify them for the sequel. And that's exactly the mentality behind Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (that will be the only time I type out that terrible title).

A sequel to the 2017 film The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, the only thing this unwarranted sequel drops is the article adjective. Other than that, it mirrors a simple copy and paste job from who I assume is an uninteresting film student who got told he’s a great writer because his dad is on the alumni board. But, that’s enough breath wasted on him.

Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek and Samuel L. Jackson are doing everything they can to try and make something out of this movie. And to their credit, their chemistry and chops do save the movie from being completely unwatchable. But, with their stature, you would think one would warrant a better script.

Overall the movie is your typical Michael Bay rip off (there are so many better directors to rip off, why him??!!) with a bunch of dumb action sequences and a major surprise cameo. Hell, even Antonio Banderas’ flamboyant villain couldn’t save this cow chip. It’s not horrible. It’s passable, which is worse. I kept this review short. Wish the film would’ve had the same courtesy.
